LARAC Mountain Gallery

LARAC’s new space at 21 Bay Street in downtown Glens Falls features exhibits by artist groups at the local, regional and national level. This nicely appointed and well located gallery also functions as a workshop space, meeting and event venue. LARAC Mountain Gallery schedule of eight exhibits annually, concludes with an additional Members Show during the holiday season. Main entrance to gallery is located on Maple Street, facing City Park.

 

Summer/Fall 2023 Workshops at LARAC Mountain Gallery

LARAC is developing a very active workshop schedule for 2023 at the Mountain Gallery location. To register for upcoming workshops, call 518-798-1144, x-2 or stop into either LARAC location. Check back as we continue to add more workshops to our schedule.

Friday, July 21, noon-3pm: Art Journal with Mixed Media Collage, instructed by Ellen Santasiero. $45/person, class size limit to 8 participants. All materials supplied, but participants are welcome to bring additional supplies.

Thursday, August 3, 1-4pm: Paint Your Own Watercolor Landscape; painting workshop with Diane Swanson. $50/person, class size limit to 8 participants. Some materials supplied, but students will need to bring additional paintings supplies; for full supply list, email mtngallery@larac.org.

Thursday, September 7, 1-3pm: Paint with Patrice; acrylic painting workshop with Patrice Jarvis-Weber. $35/person, class size limit 10 participants. All materials supplied.

Wednesday, September 13, 12-3pm: Monotype Printing; multi-media print workshop with Joan Reid. $50/person, class size up to 10 participants.
Monotype is a form of printmaking using a variety of mediums, made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface, and/or assembling objects on a plate to create an image. Instructor will provide plates and press. Participants can bring their own water-based mediums and different kinds of paper. Instructor will provide some basic watercolor paper, and additional materials.

Thursday, September 14, 12:30-3pm: Paper Weaving Workshop with Kathy Klompas. $30/person, class size up to 10 participants.
Instructor will provide materials and inspiration, guiding participants through approaches to get started. Participants are welcome to bring additional materials to work with: magazine pages, calendar art, photos,  paper bags, or art work that they would like to repurpose.

Thursday, October 12, 1-3pm: Create your own Felt Greeting Card with Barbara Ryan, $35/person, class size up to 6 participants. 
Learn to wet felt and create your very own special front to a greeting card. Just bring your creativity and sense of fun.
Take home a “one of a kind” greeting card ready to go to someone special. Or keep for yourself! Workshop led by fiber artist Barbara Ryan. 
All materials are supplied. For all artistic abilities

Thursday, October 19, 12:30-3pm – Abstract Landscape Painting in Acrylic with Sue Beadle
$50/person. Class size limited to 10 participants.
Artist Sue Beadle will lead students in painting their own abstract landscape masterpieces in acrylic on prepared boards, using bright color and dynamic composition. After paintings are complete, Sue will assist participants in framing their own works. All supplies are provided, including frames. For all artistic abilities.

Wednesday, October 25, 1-3pm: Felting a Small Vessel with Joy Muller-McCoola. $35/person, class size up to 8 participants.
Learn to wet felt a small vessel or pouch using a resist and wool roving. We will layout wool around a flat plastic sheet and create surface and three dimensional form simultaneously with only soap, water, and our hands. All materials supplied. For all artistic abilities.

Thursday, December 14, 1-3pm: Paint with Patrice; acrylic painting workshop with Patrice Jarvis-Weber. $35/person, class size limit 10 participants. All materials supplied.
