Bob Barnett

Bob Barnett is a painter who lives and works in New York City and Sussex County in Northwest New Jersey. From an early age, the textures that make up our environment have held a fascination for him. His newest pieces explore those textures through the layering of encaustic wax, sumi ink, oil pigments and natural fibers. The profound effect nature has on our environment is a constant source of subject matter for his work. Fire, wind, water and erosion all affect the world around us, and his paintings look to them for inspiration. For over 35 years, Bob has worked as a member of United Scenic Artist Local 829 as a scenic artist and set designer. His work has brought him in contact with a wide variety of artists and craftspeople from all over the world. Favorite film projects include “The Ice Storm,” “tick, tick…BOOM!” and “West Side Story.”
Bob has also worked as a set designer for The Adirondack Theatre Festival in Glens Falls, where projects include “Filming O’Keeffe,” “Slow Food,” and “Traffic & Weather.”
